The GROUNDD xpress has been named a 2026 Australian Good Design Award Winner in the Product Design category, Housewares and Objects.
Established in 1958, the Australian Good Design Awards are Australia’s longest running international design awards. Every project is evaluated by an independent Jury of more than 100 Australian and international design experts against three criteria: Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact. This year’s Awards are presented under the theme Design that Leads.

What the Jury said
“The Jury recognises the GROUNDD xpress as a clever and well-resolved brewing solution that seamlessly integrates functionality into a portable drinking vessel. Drawing inspiration from established systems such as the AeroPress and French press, the design engineers an innovative pausing plunger mechanism that addresses the longstanding issue of over-steeped beverages. The Jury was impressed by the product's intuitive usability, thoughtful material selection including premium glass, stainless steel and food-grade silicone, and its commitment to repairability and environmental responsibility. Subtle detailing and cohesive integration of brewing components elevate the overall experience, creating a refined design outcome that transforms the morning ritual into a restorative practice whilst reducing reliance on disposable alternatives.”

About the xpress
The xpress brews loose leaf tea or ground coffee in the same cup you drink from. Add your leaves or grounds, pour in hot water and wait until it tastes right, then push down. The piston, with its two way valves and ultra fine filter, takes the leaves or grounds to the bottom of the cup and keeps them there, so the brew pauses while you drink.
There are no pods, no tea bags and no single use cups, and what is left at the end is leaves or grounds you can compost. It is made from borosilicate glass, a 316 stainless steel filter, a Tritan lid and a walnut grip, and every part is sold as a spare, so it can be repaired rather than replaced.
The xpress was designed by Nick Bodley at home in Margaret River, Western Australia.
Thank you
Thank you to Good Design Australia and the Jury for the time they spent with the xpress, and to everyone who has made it part of their ritual.
