Tea
Designed originally for tea, the GROUNDD xpress excels in familiar territory. The whole experience has been curated for your sight, touch, smell and taste. The hand blown borosilicate glass allows you to view the brewing process. The walnut wooden hand protector conducts the warmth and connects you with nature. The brew stop piston plunger pauses the brewing process preventing the tea from getting bitter the moment you push it down. A laser cut stainless steel filter separates any fines and leaf from the final brew giving your tastebuds a treat without annoying floaties.
The quick release plunger shaft allows you to open the lid, add creamer or sweetener, regulate the cooling process and smell the sweet aroma of the tea, drink traditionally or place the lid and plunger back on if you need to take your ritual on the run.
You can also adjust your brew strength if you feel you need a little more flavor by pulling the plunger up and down again.
In the case of some teas like Jasmine, traditional green and Yerba Mate, you can get 2 or more refills out of the same leaves.
Coffee, The perfect brew
Slightly more scientific than the perfect tea, a balanced coffee made in the GROUNDD cup can follow a refined recipe and process similar to a French press or Aeropress but with a totally different experience.
The entire process has been curated for your sight, touch, smell and taste. The hand blown borosilicate glass allows you to view the brewing process. The walnut wooden hand protector conducts the warmth and connects you with nature. The brew stop piston plunger pauses the brewing process at the right time preventing the coffee from over extraction the moment it is pressed down. A laser cut stainless steel filter separates any grounded fines from the final brew providing a clean sediment and mud free coffee.
The quick release plunger shafts allows you to open the lid, add creamer or sweetener or regulate the cooling process and smell the sweet aroma, drink traditionally or place the lid and plunger back on if you need to take your ritual on the run.
All components submerged in the coffee (or hot water) are titanium coated metal, brass or stainless steel. Seals are all FDA approved silicon. BPA and microplastics is not even debatable. There is absolutely no risk of harmful chemicals or plastic release due to the cup.
Titanium coated handle
The handle sits flush and recessed in the lid, giving a natural feel when drinking. Its recesses let you unlock and quick release the shaft from the plunger — and reattach it — without interrupting the brew-stop mechanism. Significant thought has gone into the form factor, keeping the mating parts sleekly integrated.
Stainless shaft
One quick twist locks or releases the shaft from the plunger allowing you to drink from the glass or add cream or sweetener. The engineering behind that twist is a triple start thread: 1 revolution connects or disconnects where a typical thread would require approximately 4 revolutions, and it strongly resists cross threading. Finally, the higher pitch keeps the breaking force very low, so the seal friction against the glass is balanced with the force required to break the thread. All planned and all precise – no accident
Pausing Plunger
This is what keeps grinds and sediment out of your cup. Sized for exact sealing against the wall of the glass, the tolerances on this component were critical to get right — its simplicity was the real achievement. Made from a toughened alloy steel with titanium PVD coating for durability and stability, with umbrella valves selected to control the flow and make cleaning easy. Minimal moving parts, self cleaning, temperature resistance, hygienic and FDA approved materials mean submerging it in boiling water presents zero risk of plastic leaching or any other nasties. Your health and convenience were the real priority.
Plunger Stabilizer
This component stops the plunger rotating and breaking the seal — critical when you release the shaft and drink from the cup without the lid. Made from alloy steel coated in titanium PVD, it connects the same way as the shaft, sharing a common thread. Easy to connect and disconnect, impossible to cross thread. Convenient and functional.
Stainless steel laser cut filter
The filter is what keeps fines and floaties out of your cup, so every sip is clean. Made from surgical grade stainless steel 316, laser etched for perfect apertures with no flashing. Extensive testing identified the optimal aperture size and plate thickness, and extensive prototyping and research went into particle size distribution through the filter across a range of grind sizes. This was an interesting and surprising part of the product development — the filter plays such a significant role in the flavour profile.
Umbrella valve set
These valves keep over brewed liquid on the ‘dirty’ side of the piston where it belongs — designed so the breaking pressure at static and certain dynamic loading conditions doesn’t allow it to escape.
The umbrella valve has been optimised for the viscosities seen in tea and coffee, with principles from fluid dynamics shaping the thickness and hardness of the valves as well as how liquid flows through.
They are designed to be removed easily, multiple times, without damage if a deep clean is required — no need to buy new valves. And if you do damage or lose any, you can repair rather than replace.
Plunger and Lid Seal
These seals are interchangeable, so in the worst case, if the plunger seal breaks you can use the lid seal while you wait for your replacement. Made from an FDA approved silicone, these seals don’t release microplastics and are mould resistant.
If you have a Yeti, you can also borrow your Yeti seal and it will work temporarily — or if you lose your Yeti cup seal, our seals will fit the 70mm lids. You don’t need to buy a full lid from Yeti anymore.

The base lid looks simple, but its inclined track and snap fit indents work together to give tactile feedback that was not easy to achieve — you can feel it click home. Minimal parts means cleaning is easy and there are no crevices for grime to accumulate.

Tritan Top lid
The top lid mates with the base and the handle, makes the 360 degree drinking and sealing possible, and controls the flow so your drink doesn’t come out too fast or too slow. There were so many configurations of this part to tune and make sure it worked in with the base, handle and shaft.

Tritan Lid Assembly
Together, the base and top lid deliver your drink to your mouth with comfort and familiarity. It was essential that the product felt right on your lips — no sharp edges, no lining up little mouth holes, no slurping or residual left over. Even the height and profile of the edge has been designed with 0.2mm precision.
The height of the profile fits the ergonomics of most faces, and we tested it on a lot of faces…
The edge is engineered so the last drop breaks clean off instead of dripping down the body of the cup — fluid dynamics were modelled to make sure of it. Again not by accident but serving you with convenience.
Pausing Plunger assembly
The real hero of the product, the core of the design and the real innovation. With the 2 opposing valves you can control when you want your brew to stop — and in the case of tea, you can even change the flavour profile if you want it stronger.
Borosilicate drinking Glass
Made from lead free virgin materials, the glasses are hand blown with precision by artisans. Borosilicate is the same glass used in lab equipment but we have increased the thickness to improve toughness. With dimensions critical to function we have added a level of quality control and a process of manufacturing new to the industry.
The glass volume has been calculated based on a medium 12oz coffee or tea. Sized for a 18-20g coffee shot (which is the industry standard). The dimensions of the plunger and shaft have been precisely designed to minimise the amount of brewed liquid trapped on the dirty side of the piston, achieve 12oz of brewed gold but still allow the handle to mate keeping it flush with the lid when drinking.
The diameter of the cup is familiar and very close to that of a beer or soda can — which means the GROUNDD cup will fit in virtually every vehicle cup holder.
Walnut Hand Protector
The hand protector connects you to nature through the warm touch of natural timber. Sustainably sourced, each hand protector is unique in colour and grain pattern, no 2 products are the same. This reinforces our connection with the earth and we thought it was a nice way to connect with the cup both literally and metaphorically.
To keep your GROUNDD xpress pristine we recommend handwashing with soap and water. The borosilicate glass, Tritan lid and stainless steel filter are dishwasher safe. Keep the plunger & skirt and the walnut sleeve out of the dishwasher — dishwasher detergents are harsh and can discolour metals.
The timber hand protector is a natural material and may loosen over time, especially when exposed to moisture. Keep dry and replace if it risks falling off.
Ensure all parts dry completely before storage. Humid conditions can promote mould or bacteria growth.
We recommend dismantling all seals occasionally and washing them to remove any buildup.

I used mine on a recent golf trip to Scotland. Waking up before dawn and still being able to make a proper cup from my own beans was a first for me. Having my favourite coffee before a round sounds like a small thing, but on a trip like that it genuinely mattered — and it delivered every morning.

From the minute I received my cup I knew the build was different. The fact that I only need 1 cup to filter and drink from is great for when I’m on the road and want to brew my own coffee. The design is great and the fact that I can unscrew the filter from the bottom and add milk in the same cup without having any coffee grounds mixed with my coffee is great. I love my GROUNDD Xpress, and it has become my preferred daily coffee routine at home and on the road. I enjoy a wide variety of roast styles and bean origins and have found the GROUNDD Xpress does an excellent job illuminating the flavour profile for all. Importantly, when paired with a good burr grinder and a kitchen scale I now enjoy a golden cup of coffee on demand. As a result, my French press and Aeropress sit collecting dust on the shelf. The metal and glass Xpress is much more comfortable in hand than the plastic Aeropress or the bulky French press.
My preferred drinking method is to depress the plunger and then remove the shaft and lid. The threading makes connecting and disconnecting the shaft remarkably easy. Once the plunger is depressed there is absolutely no flow, over extraction, or excess bitterness.
I was lucky enough to test early prototypes and have found the Xpress to be remarkably robust. Several hundred cups of coffee later all the silicon gaskets and plugs are holding up well, as of course are the metal components.
I definitely recommend the GROUNDD Xpress to anyone looking for a good cup of coffee.

I'm a commercial coffee roaster and always on the lookout for new and interesting ways to brew our coffee. The Groundd xpress caught my eye and I thought I'd give it a go. So glad I did, it's super easy to use, and I get a clean, clear and flavourful brew that highlights the results I'm chasing in my roasts. I've always preferred a French Press over a Moka Pot or more sophisticated coffee machines. It's simple, reliable, easy to use, and consistently makes a great cup of coffee.
Then I got my hands on the GROUNDD xpress, and my immediate reaction was: "How has nobody thought of this before?" It combines everything I love about a French press with the convenience of a travel cup. You brew, stop the extraction exactly when you want, and drink from the very same cup. No extra gear, no mess, and almost no cleanup.

Practical and sleek, this cup has been a great addition to my day. I would have a small plunger and cup at work to make coffee. Having them both combined in one vessel has made things easier. Having it seal has meant I can make a cup for the drive to work, or take to meetings. I add the grounds, pour the water, plunge slightly, leaving a gap for me to add milk, before pushing down to create the seal. Keen to also take this cup camping. It's clever engineering, attention to detail in its sleek design, and the quality in its finish, drew interest from others at work. It makes a great gift.

I seldom drink coffee at home so I use the Groundd xpress mainly for tea, adding 1 tbsp loose tea, (not too many choices in the supermarkets, but so far they have all been good) then I fill to about 2cm below the line, wait +- 2 minutes before replacing the lid and plunger, after removing the lid and plunger, add a little milk and enjoy. I use it every morning and have been very happy with it, it's simple to use and don't need to make a pot of tea, half of which is going to be thrown out as I only need one cup.
