Purpose and Design

Designed for everyday rituals

Your daily ritual should taste amazing and feel good too.
At GROUNDD, we believe small daily rituals can make a big difference for you and for the planet.
That’s why we created the GROUNDD xpress. A precision-engineered plunger cup that brews and stops perfectly, letting you enjoy real tea or coffee anywhere, without pods, bags, or single-use waste.

Repair don't Replace

At GROUNDD, we’re inspired by the idea that small daily rituals can have a lasting impact for our wellbeing and for the planet we share.
Our mission is simple: to help people enjoy their coffee and tea without the waste that comes from single-use pods, cups, and tea bags. We’ve designed an innovative plunger cup that eliminates over-steeping, enhances flavour, and makes it easy to reconnect with your ritual, wherever you are.
We put the planet before the product and the profit. That’s why we’re proud members of 1% for the Planet, contributing more than 1% of every sale to the cleanup of ocean and waterway plastic.

Each GROUNDD product represents a tangible impact of plastic removed from the world’s waterways where every sip becomes a small act of restoration as well as a moment to pause, breathe, and know that your ritual is part of something bigger.
This isn’t a consumable, it’s a precision-made companion, crafted to last and designed to be repaired, not replaced. Every component has been carefully considered both as an individual part and as part of a whole system. If you lose a seal, break a piece, or simply want a refresh, you can replace it without replacing the entire object.

Design Philosophy

We have designed every major component to be repairable rather than replacing.
In our logo, the straight line - above the O represents traditional consumption, starts as a raw material and ends in landfill. The O represents the circular economy whereby something is created and never consumed but passed down to generations and repaired rather than replaced. Every single component can be purchased from the store as a replacement since every component has been meticulously designed and is a product in of itself.

In the world of over consumption, we didn’t want to add but subtract. Each component undergoes the minimal amount of processing to get to a functional and lasting item that will outlive you (for the right reasons and not in landfill). The packaging is all made from recycled paper and plant-based inks. Any part that is used for transport or point of sale can be returned to the earth. Our recycling lab (worm farm) is where we test all the consumable inputs and I’m proud to say the farm is thriving, and the plants are loving the worm juice!
As an Engineer of 25 years specialising in plastics, I know a thing or two about the benefits and the disadvantages which is why I have embraced the technical and design opportunities for functional objects that plastics embody. By knowing what plastics are good for I also know what they are not and therefore I have used steel alloys, silicon, brass, stainless steel, borosilicate glass and walnut timber to lean into the benefits of these amazing materials as well. All these (including plastics) have been extracted from our ever-giving planet and human ingenuity has created these functional materials, it’s now upon us to use them correctly.
The right combination of materials/ingredients/conditions creates a recipe for emotional experiences that keep us grounded like the perfect coffee, a relaxing tea, cooking, woodworking, pottery, gardening, architecture and nature. We were born to create.
